Portobello Mushroom Size and Packing Notes for Wholesale Orders

Portobello buyers should confirm cap size, pack format, photos, cold-chain handling, and document scope before comparing wholesale offers.

Start with cap size, not only the product name

Portobello mushrooms are bought for their large cap, so the first sourcing question is size. Bojiu currently lists Portobello Mushroom 8-10cm with a 3kg/box packing reference. If a food-service kitchen needs caps for grilling or a retail buyer needs a consistent display pack, the inquiry should state the target diameter, acceptable size tolerance, pack format, destination, and expected use. A supplier cannot price the same way for vague 'large mushrooms' and a clear 8-10cm portobello requirement.

Why 8-10cm changes the buyer conversation

An 8-10cm portobello is not just a larger brown mushroom. Buyers usually evaluate cap width, firmness, color, surface condition, stem trimming, and how the caps sit in the box. For a food-service program, the cap may need to hold shape for grilling or baking. For retail, the pack has to look consistent when opened. Ask for recent product photos and packing photos before treating two quotes as comparable.

Packing should match the sales channel

Bojiu's current portobello page gives 3kg/box as the packing reference. That is a useful starting point, but buyers should still confirm carton strength, inner protection, pallet plan, labeling needs, and whether the shipment is for food-service cartons, retail repacking, prepared-food production, or wholesale distribution. If private-label or shelf-ready packing is needed later, say so early because it changes the document and artwork questions.

Cold-chain checks protect the cap quality

Fresh portobello mushrooms should be discussed together with the cold-chain plan. Bojiu's fresh mushroom product data lists 0-4 C refrigerated storage and full cold-chain transportation for the portobello SKU. Buyers should confirm dispatch timing, route, temperature expectation, arrival photo request, and inspection steps for their own order. The product page is the reference; the order still needs a shipment-specific plan.

Documents and related products to review before approval

For supplier approval, ask which inspection reports, certificate copies, business-license details, and product photos support the shipment. Bojiu's current qualification pages include organic certificate context for brown mushroom and white mushroom scope, plus inspection reports for fresh white and brown mushroom samples. Buyers should confirm whether any document applies to the portobello order instead of assuming. If the same program also needs Brown Mushroom 4-5cm, Brown Mushroom 4-6cm, or Swiss Brown / Cremini Mushroom, keep each product line separate in the quote request.
